‘Seeing Red’

Through exploring reoccurring colours, materials, textures and scenes Glasgow is made up of, we focused our efforts into researching why Glasgow’s buildings are the way they are. In doing this we were able to disclose the history of our chosen material (Red Sandstone) and discover why it’s so common in this city. We also looked into comparisons between new and old buildings, the importance of both, and why Glasgow is constantly under construction to “improve” the area. Influences such as Antony Gormley guided us into our final sculptural piece in which we collated found red sandstone like materials and projected on old and new footage of the city of Glasgow.
