The group’s approach to ‘The Anthropocene’ has been solely focused on recycling and reusing plastics in architecture. We have firstly explored and researched different types of architecture, from vernacular to modern non-vernacular buildings, back to a more sustainable and holistic approach.

From this, we began thinking about how polluting plastic is for the planet and worked as a group to create a brief for ourselves. ‘How can architects repurpose material, such as plastic, to create sustainable structures.’ As a result, we began researching plastics, a broad topic, but we split it into four main subtopics; durability, transportation, its relation to being used as a building material, and sustainability. Our end goal is to design and make a model of a pavilion. The pavilion will be made of repurposed plastics and is situated in George Square. It aims to raise awareness of the more sustainable use of plastics as a building material.
