Zoe Dymock Link Oceans of Plastic

My film is about the creation of products for our convenience. Most are designed without addressing the consequences of their inevitable environmental impact. Every product we create has an end-of-life destination, where is that and is it really worth it?

The design breif for the Coca Cola bottle triggered the message for my film. The real way to reduce waste isn’t by buying a disposable product (in this  case a bottle) and recycling it, but by not buying it in the first place. Every product we buy is produced due to demand. If we reduce consumption of plastic, we reduce the demand, which reduces the amount of new plastic being made and ultimately our plastic waste. Of course, we should recycle existing plastic, but our order of priority should be to reduce, reuse and then recycle as a last resort.
