The artefact we got was a bag and pin-cushion, so I decided to look into how bags from the 17th century were a status symbol back then and how an item of clothing could instantly show your class just like today. I decided to embroider logos onto items that would be common now and try to show that with some branding you could transform the way people look at an item, something that working-class people would wear would become something for the upper class which I did by embroidering facemasks. I added some designer logos that I embroidered to the artefact we got given to show how a bag for someone of the upper class from the 17th century would have looked if it was made now and I added the patterns from the artefact to a modern-day designer bag to show more of a mix between the periods. Also, I added embroidered face masks to some portraits from the time to show my designer face masks would have looked on a person of higher class from back then.
