“Being human” is how people live differently from other species on the planet. The boundaries of human form can be defined in different perspectives and dimensions. In the first stage of research, an archive “De Monstrum” from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons has inspired me. It records a lot of disabilities in history and involves detailed diagrams. Starting at this point, I researched further on how disabilities figure out their body form as human. This essay will focus on finding the self-image of individuals to live in societies as human beings. Image is the visual impression of a human, self-image is also an mental-picture. It helps people to have a basic cogination of one’s self-identification. However, there is a group of people who do not have a self-image. Some of them do not have it by loss of sight, some of them lose it by disturbance of self-consciousness.
