From the materiality brief given, I chose to look closely at a material that as a painter I work with often, canvas. Thinking about this, my mind jumped to the image of parchment being stretched and dried. After deciding to centre a work around these ideas, I chose to move forward with this imagery. While developing my physical work, I researched the ecological, social and historical impact canvas and cotton has had on the world. This research, in turn, influenced the alterations and construction of my final piece. From initial thoughts to development to final work, I enjoyed working conceptually on a large sculptural scale.
